About VACCHO

Who we are

Founded in 1996, the Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (VACCHO) is the peak body for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and wellbeing in Victoria.

With a large membership of Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs), VACCHO has a simple aim: ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have access to high-quality, culturally safe health, wellbeing, and social services – wherever they are in Victoria.
Our Vision

At VACCHO, our vision is a future of vibrant, healthy, self-determining Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

This vision for vibrant, healthy, self-determining Aboriginal communities is at the heart of our five-year strategy, On Solid Ground. This strategy guides VACCHO towards fostering strength, sustainability and innovation in the Aboriginal health and wellbeing sector – for generational change.

From 2021 to 2026, we are committed to an outcomes-based approach that sharpens our focus on what truly matters, measures what counts and empowers Members and Community to shape their future.
